Source: Starfield is Not Coming to PS5, Bethesda and Microsoft Reiterate
Microsoft and Bethesda have said and shown repeatedly over the past few months that while some games may continue to get cross-platform releases, like the recent earthquake remaster or next Skyrim Anniversary Edition – primarily, the recently acquired company will focus on providing content for Xbox Game Pass.
However, there are many who hope that the next Starfield will also launch on PS5, given the scale of the release, and a recent comment from Bethesda SVP of Global Marketing and Communications Pete Hines in a recent feed raised hopes that , although the RPG is launching as an Xbox console exclusive, it could make its way to the PS5 in the future.
Well, it won’t. Bethesda and Microsoft have moved quickly to clear up any confusion. Aaron Greenberg, chief marketing officer for Xbox, took to Twitter to state in non-vague terms that Starfield will launch exclusively for Xbox Series X / S and PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. Pete Hines also intervened, saying firmly that he was not suggesting that Starfield could make its way to the PS5, contrary to what many are hoping for.
So this is it. If you want to play Starfield, you will need to do this on Xbox or PC, or Xbox Game Pass via the cloud. The game will launch on November 11, 2022.
